Basics of European Union law for environmental impact assessments (EIA). Short history of EIA. Strategic EIA. Types of projects which require the EIA. Methods and techniques of EIA. EIA procedures. Screening and scoping stage. Preparation of EIA report. EIA for Natura 2000 areas. Public participation in EIA. Transboundary EIA.

KNOWLEDGE:

EEP_W2 - mechanisms and processes in the environment

EEP_W5 - methods to select the technologies minimizing consequences of anthropopressure in the environment

EEP_W6 - international and European regulations regarding environmental protection and engineering

EEP_W9 - basic concepts and principles to the planning of technical infrastructure

SKILLS:

EEP_U1 - acquire, verify, evaluate and integrate environmental and geographical data from various sources

EEP_U2 - utilize obtained data for environmental and anthropogenic impact assessments

EEP_U5 - define engineering problem and indicate solutions by making calculations and individual project

EEP_U7 - present a point of view on the recent advances in development of modern technologies in environmental engineering and protection, based on the knowledge gained from literature, lectures and study visits, being able also to provide scientific, social and ethical arguments

EEP_K1 - apply obtained knowledge about the environment for engineering solutions
