Why semi-urban areas exist? Introduction to planning at the urban–rural interface – principles of location and settlement expansion. Key challenges in peri-urban areas: urban sprawl, land-use conflicts, and infrastructure gaps. Strategies for managing transitional landscapes and sustainable development. Critical view on 20th-century planning models and their impact on dispersed growth. Balancing development with preservation of cultural and rural identity. Use of new technologies, including AI, in addressing semi-urban planning challenges.

KNOWLEDGE:

SKILLS:

GEO_U3 - analyze spatial data (also using GIS tools) for spatial planning, water management, flood protection and environmental protection; perform simple geodetic measurements and use complex geodetic documentation

GEO_U5 - design a geoinformation system in accordance with the paradigms of geography, natural and information sciences; conduct research in this field and find practical application of geoinformatics
